Winemaker Notes
Touriga Nacional, native to Portugal, holds onto crisp acidity and firm tannins even in a warm climate such as our Lincoln vineyard. 2020 was a fairly typical vintage with warm to hot growing days mid- summer and then cooling off in the fall. This allows the grapes to reach full ripeness slowly while retaining fresh fruit & acidity. After hand-picking the grapes, they are processed and added to our stainless steel fermentation tanks. The wine ferments on skins for 4 weeks, including a cold soak and extended maceration. The resulting wine is dark in color and flavor, with bold fine-grained tannins and acidity to match. This wine is deeply complex and earthy with a long lingering finish.
