Tasting Notes
The 2023 Touriga Nacional exhibits rich flavors of plum, blueberry and violet with subtle flavors of slate vanilla and mint.Winemaker Notes
Touriga Nacional, native to Portugal, holds onto crisp acidity and firm tannins even in a warm climate such as our Lincoln vineyard. 2023 was a typical vintage with warm to hot growing days mid-summer and then cooling off in the fall. This allows the grapes to reach full ripeness slowly while retaining fresh fruit & acidity. After hand-picking the grapes, they are processed and added to our stainless steel fermentation tanks. The wine ferments on skins for 3 weeks, including a 3-day cold soak and 5 days of extended maceration. The resulting wine is dark in color and flavor, with bold fine-grained tannins and acidity to match. This wine is deeply complex and earthy with a long lingering finish.Awards
